Getting To BioSound From Tacoma

Step‑by‑Step Directions from Tacoma

  1. Drive (or take bus) to the ferry terminal at Point Defiance Ferry Terminal — the terminal in Tacoma that connects to Vashon Island.

    • If driving via car: From I‑5, take exit 132 onto Hwy 16 west, go ~3 miles, exit at 6th Avenue (sign: Vashon ferry), then right onto Hwy 163 (Pearl Street). Follow roughly 3.5 miles to the ferry toll plaza/terminal.

    • If using public transit: You can take a bus (for example Pierce Transit “Line 11” from Tacoma) to Point Defiance Ferry Terminal.

  1. Take the ferry from Point Defiance → Tahlequah Ferry Terminal on Vashon Island.

    • This is the route known as Point Defiance–Tahlequah ferry.

    • Ferry ride is short — about 15 minutes.

  • Fares (one‑way, as of Nov 2025):

    • Adult (pedestrian): ~ US$7.45 WSDOT

Tips & Considerations

  • During busy times (holidays, rush hours), ferries may fill up — if driving, it’s wise to arrive early. Some folks on public forums for Tacoma / Vashon suggest showing up about an hour early before a scheduled sailing to reduce chances of missing a spot.

  • Ferry ride only ~15 minutes, but plan for total travel ~2.5–3 hours if using bus.

  • Recommend arriving at the terminal at least ~60 min early if you plan to bring a vehicle.
